Distance: Up to 9 Miles
Elevation: 1,500ft
VIEW AVAILABILITY & BOOK ONLINE
Starting at the NY/CT border, heading north on the Appalachian Trial, there is a small stream to rock-hop across before starting our gradual but steady ascent up Ten Mile Hill to an elevation of 1,000 feet. At the top of Ten Mile Hill, there is an opening in the trees, we are rewarded with a nice view, and  as we continue down the other side, we follow switchbacks and stone steps down until reaching the Ten Mile River below.

Our hike continues along Ten Mile River for a short distance before meeting up with the Housatonic River, offering some great options for places to rest, have a snack, and enjoy the river. Crossing a footbridge over the Ten Mile River, we will continue north, following a side trail along the Ten Mile River for about a half mile further. At Bulls Bridge, a wooden covered bridge, there are several scenic viewpoints to explore before turning back. Returning to our starting point, 3.6 miles South, we'll follow the White Blazes of the Appalachian Trail along the Housatonic River with one more stop at a small riverside beach. This final snack and water break should re-energize everyone for the hike back up and over Ten Mile Hill.

A shorter version of this hike with minimal elevation change, starts from the parking area at Bulls Bridge and connects with the Appalachian Trail South.
