Hiking & Backpacking Classes
Whether your goals are to improve physical fitness, learn new skills, or gain the knowledge and experience to explore the backcountry safely and confidently, all of our hiking and backpacking classes can be structured to help you achieve specific outcomes.
The backcountry makes for a great environment to exercise, explore personal abilities, increase independence, socialize and build confidence, all while having fun and enjoying the outdoors. Classes can be introductory, including basic trip planning and preparation, route finding, orienteering and Leave No Trace Practices (LNT). Learn about local trails and parks in the Hudson Valley and beyond, including the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.
Intermediate skills include learning to safely navigate various terrain like rock scrambling, or hiking on wet, muddy or snow covered surfaces. When ready, join us for a more advanced skiing or mountaineering class.
