Duration: 3 Days, 2 Nights Difficulty: Moderate Max Participants: 7 This 3 day, 2 night trip provides the opportunity to visit the largest state park in the country, with access to the highest peaks in New York. Located in the high peaks wilderness area of the Adirondack State Park, a 6 million acre "forever wild" forest preserve, Whiteface Mountain stands tall at 4,865 feet, offering sweeping 360 degree views from its summit.
Enjoy Lake Placid, a quiet mountain town, home to the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. Experience the high peaks for the winter recreation they are famous for! Hiking, Snowshoeing, and Skiing, this winter trip offers great opportunities to explore upstate New York's rugged backcountry. Suggested itinerary can be customized to include two days of skiing or no skiing and more hiking. Day 1 1:00pm Meet at Adirondack Loj. Introductions, gear organization, and other preparations. 1:30pm 5 mile hike to Rocky Falls. 4:30 pm Check-In to Lodge 6:00pm Dinner Day 2 7:00am Breakfast 8:00am Drive to WhiteFace Mountain for day of Skiing or Snowboarding. Apres Ski in Lake Placid 6:00pm Return to Lodge for Dinner or Meal in Town. Day 3 7:00am Breakfast 8:30am Check-Out of Lodge 9:00am Hike & Snowshoe to Avalanche Lake. 2:00pm Return to Loj, organize gear and depart *The alpine zone does not have trees to provide protection from the weather, so extra precautions must be taken when traveling above treeline. If the weather or visibility is poor, your guide may suggest an alternative hike within the park. Weather can change very quickly in the mountains, especially at higher elevations. |
