Features a picturesque mountain Lake, cascading brook, & mountain top views. Many options to make this hike easier or more challenging depending on route selections.

Elevation Gain: 1,800 ft.
The Northern section of Harriman State Park offers some amazing views of the Hudson valley, East to the Hudson River and South to NYC on a clear day.

Appalachian Trail - Ten Mile Hill, Housatonic River and Bulls Bridge

Duration: 5 Hours
Difficulty: Moderate

Distance: Up to 9 Miles
Elevation Gain: 1,500ft.

Scenic route on the iconic Appalachian Trail along the Housatonic River. Features a nice lookout, covered bridge and backcountry lean-to shelter.

​Mount Beacon - Fire Tower

Duration: 3-5 Hours
Difficulty: Hard
​Reservoir Route: 5.2 Miles
Scofield Ridge: 6.7 Miles
Ridge & Reservoir: 7.6 Miles

Elevation Gain: Up to 2,000 Feet

This challenging hike, located in the Northern section of the East Hudson Highlands, features a waterfall, mountain top views and a fire tower. The terrain is steep, rocky, and sure to provide a good workout. ​

Bear Mountain - Perkins Memorial Tower  and Zoo (Accessible)

Duration: 3-5 Hours
Difficulty: Easy - Moderate

Distance: 2-6 Miles
Elevation Gain: 250 - 1300ft.
Paved and crushed stone pathways without steep inclines are accessible to all ages and abilities. The Park offers a Zoo, Lake, Trailside Exhibits, Restaurant, Inn, Boating in the Summer and Ice Skating in the Winter.

Breakneck Ridge - Hudson Highlands

Duration: 3-4 Hours
​Difficulty: Hard

Distance: 3.6 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,230 feet
This challenging hike is very popular and known for its rock scrambling, amazing views of the Hudson River, and adrenaline pumping ledges. The trail is very steep and not recommended for the faint of heart or in adverse weather.

Bull Hill - Hudson Highlands

​Duration: 3 - 5 Hours
Difficulty: Moderate (Steep, Rocky Terrain)
Distance: 4 - 7 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,350 ft.

In the same park as Breakneck Ridge, this mountain offers equally as grand views of the Hudson, without any rock scrambling. The ascent is a little steep, with a more gradual descent past ruins of the Cornish Estate. A nice add-on to this loop is Little Stony Point, across the street at river level.

Popolopen Torne

Duration 3-5 Hours
Difficulty: Moderate - Hard

Distance: 5-9 Miles
Elevation Gain: 1,200+ Ft.

This great loop hike starts at Fort Montgomery Historic Site, features a river, fun rock scrambles, and 360 degree views! The Torne has fantastic views of the Bear Mountain Bridge, Hudson River, and a memorial for fallen soldiers.

Anthony's Nose

Duration 2-5 Hours
Difficulty: Moderate - Hard

Distance: 2-7 Miles
Elevation Gain: Up to 1,750 Ft.
This hike is very popular due to its proximity to NYC, stunning views of the Bear Mountain Bridge and Hudson River, and many options for reaching the summit. It gets crowded on weekends and is best enjoyed mid-week.

Giant Stairs - Palisades Interstate Park

Duration: 5 Hours
Difficulty: Hard
Distance: Up to 10.3 Miles
Elevation Gain: 1,100 Feet

This hike is less than an hour North of NYC in New Jersey's Palisades Interstate Park and features panoramic views, a waterfall, and a challenging boulder field to scramble across.

Pound Ridge Reservation

Duration: 2-5 Hours
Difficulty: Easy - Moderate
Distance 4-7+ Miles
Elevation Gain: 420+ Feet
This is the perfect introduction to hiking, and the short loop to the Leatherman's Cave is a fun trip.  It's a short hike on wide well groomed trails, easy enough for families with younger children. After the cave is a short climb up to a viewpoint.
